CRISIS GÜN – SCHOOLS CLOSED.

An uneasy calm spread across Israel as the U.N. ultimatum to the Iraqi leader, expired at 7 am local tine. The Education ministry decided to close schools today as up to 25% of pupils were kept away from school yesterday by concerned parents. It was felt that it was better to close schools until Sunday as the children were better off at home in the crisis. Universities continued to work normally. As the heavily populated area of Tel-Aviv has been threatened by Iraq, the municipality has been particularly careful in preparing emergency services in the event of war. Water supplies have been isolated so that there will be no risk of contamination one source to another.
